From Mrs. Fox: "Fifth graders have been talking about Respect and Responsibility in their counseling lessons. They each wrote down several of their responsibilities and made a chain. We discussed how everyone has different responsibilities and some have more than others. We also talked about how we don't want to break the chain and let other people down by not following through with our responsibilities."

Check out the new addition to our cafeteria!!! The big screen tv will be a great way to communicate with students regarding upcoming events and activities. We are also able to easily highlight students and activities! Zoom in to view our Cross Country athletes!

Mrs. Piscopo's class had fun last week practicing classifying (a.k.a. sorting). The students used pom pom balls to sort by size.

Mrs. Lamar’s class celebrated being illustrators. They each got to read their wordless books to the class during the celebration. Their next goal will be to become authors!

JH and HS Soccer will be in action this afternoon at home against La Monte. JH will kick off at 5:00 p.m., and will be followed by the varsity contest. Good luck Tigers!

Good Luck to Ava Needy and Coach Doane this morning! Ava is competing in the Class One State Tournament at Sedalia Country Club, and teeing off at 8:39 a.m. Anyone interested in watching will need to buy digital tickets through Hometown Ticketing (their app is blue with a large H). From the app you can search MSHSAA, and it will be the first option. The cost is $10 per person plus fees, and anyone over the age of 6 will need a ticket. Go TigerNation

Marching Tigers headed to Sedalia on Friday afternoon for the Smith-Cotton Homecoming Parade. They performed so well for a huge crowd on Ohio Street in Downtown Sedalia. Lots of compliments and rave reviews. They've been asked back in the coming years. Go Tigers!

Mrs. Dove had a vision to trade the old Dewey Decimal system for a new Topic system. She made the change and has not been disappointed by the reaction of students! Look at the line of students at the shelf! "These are the books that have often been overlooked. Elementary students can find what they want now. It makes my librarian heart so happy!!"

This week Mrs. Hammers and Mrs. Sleeper have been busy going over Reading Success Plans (RSP) with teachers. GR8 is dedicated to meeting the needs of our students! Thanks for all of your hard work!!!

Despite being one of the toughest courses of the season, the Running Tigers represented well at the Kaysinger Conference cross county meet in Stover tonight. Mrs. Hilt's 3rd graders decorated their class pumpkin today! They each placed a spider on their pumpkin and enjoyed seeing how far the plastic cob web would stretch!

We have amazing students in Green Ridge. In recent years, we have recognized one elementary and one JH/HS student as Students of the Month. This year we are doubling our list each month to recognize some of our outstanding students. We are dividing our selections into four groups now: Primary (K-3), Upper Elem (4-6), JH (7-9), and HS (10-12). The 2023-2024 started off strong with a solid group of students that were nominated for this awesome recognition. However, only one from each group can be recognized as the outstanding student of the month for September. This month our students Charlotte Maxon (2nd grade), Viktoriia Sviderko (4th) , Angelina Orlov (7th), and Kenda Grose (12th) were the chosen students for September. Charlotte Maxon I am picking this student because she is a STAR!! She is new to Green Ridge this year and has done an awesome job getting in the grove of our school and fits in perfectly! Charlotte understands our tiger stripes. She can always be caught doing the right thing. She is a great example to all students! Charlotte is responsible, and very respectful. I can always count on Charlotte to have a positive attitude and do the right thing. Charlotte puts effort forth on all assignments and class activities. She is always willing to help. She is a very trustworthy student to have in class and overall a great student. Anyone would be lucky to Have this spunky, sharp, creative second grader Miss Charlotte Maxon in class. Viktoriia Sviderko I chose Viktoriia because she struggles with the English language and she will try her best on everything she has in front of her to do. She is willing to try different things that we come up with and will not complain at all. Even though things are more challenging for her, she gives 100% and smiles the whole time. Her attitude makes the difference in her learning. Angelina Orlov Angelina is always respectful to both teachers and students in the classroom, hallways, and anywhere else she goes. She is a great student that takes an active role in her education. Angelina takes notes, asks questions, and engages in lessons and her homework is always completed on time. She is a model student in every way and a great role model for all other Tigers! Kenda Grose This student has been an exceptional addition to my classroom since their arrival at Green Ridge. I have them in my room a couple of times a day in various capacities. One such capacity is later in the day when their hour overlaps with the beginning band students. Kenda couldn't have been more thrilled to be able to share her love of music and play an instrument with the younger kids. She was instrumental in recruiting a couple of our 5th graders to play the french horn as she does. Kenda has really taken an interest and hands-on approach with getting all of our beginning band students going on their instruments. Congrats to all of our Tigers!

From Mrs. White: British Literature students worked in small groups practicing their oral presentation skills by presenting their Google slides about our Unit 1 essential question, "What makes a hero?"

PINK VOLLEYBALL NIGHT The volleyball team has chosen Alisha Anderson as the recipient of our pink game proceeds this year. Alisha is a single mother fighting stage four breast cancer. She has been fighting cancer for over six years now. It is in her bones and liver. With chemo on and off for so many years taking a toll on her body, she has since sought out natural methods to fight her cancer and gain some strength back before getting back in the infusion chair. Unfortunately none of this is covered by insurance. Alisha enjoys gardening and spending time with her family in her spare time for as long as she is able! Mrs. Miller's FACS class had a Nutrition and Wellness Ramen Noodle Challenge. The students were challenged to come up with their own recipes following guidelines on post-it notes.

Kaysinger Volleyball Pool Play Lady Tigers fell victim to some payback from the Cole Camp Bluebirds Thursday to kick-off off the Kaysinger Volleyball Tournament.  Cole Camp used short-serving strategies to keep the Lady Tigers off balance losing both sets 23-25, 21-25.  Nevaeh Washington, Sydney Gordon, and Emery Cannon all finished with 5 kills each and Nevaeh added 2 aces from the serving line.   Lady Tigers regrouped in the following pool play game against LaMonte taking care of business to win 25-12, 25-21.  Washington and Cannon led the offense again with 7 kills each and Abby Warner added 2 kills and 2 aces.   Lady Tigers finished the night  fighting off the scrappy Lincoln Cardinals with 25-8, 25-18 wins.  Cannon took charge at the net finishing with 6 kills, and Washington swung for 5 kills.  Mallory Reed added to the points serving 3 aces along with Washington’s 3 aces from the service line.   Lady Tigers will play Saturday at 9am to begin the tournament bracket play in Cole Camp.  Let’s Go Tigers!!
