Seniors and sophomores participated in the Reality Check event on Tuesday afternoon. This hands-on experience gave students a glimpse into real-world budgeting, financial management, decision-making, and handling unexpected expenses.
We extend our sincere thanks to Central Bank for providing this valuable opportunity, as well as to the community members who volunteered their time to assist.
During the event, students were assigned salaries based on real Missouri job data and given various life scenarios—such as being married or having children—which impacted their monthly expenses. Many students were surprised by the true cost of living and gained a deeper understanding of the many expenses involved in managing a household, including insurance, housing, transportation, childcare, clothing, groceries, salon visits, cell phone bills, internet, entertainment, and medical expenses.

GRL Baseball was back on the field Monday night at Warsaw. The Wildcats got on the board first with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st. The Tigers answered with a run in the top of the second and blanked the Wildcats in their half. The Tigers went on to put up a run or more in each inning until the 7th when they were blanked once more. With Max Tylar on the mound having settled in after the first the Wildcats kept pace with the Tigers and at the end of 7 the game was tied at 7. Heading into extra innings the teams traded runs through 10 with the Wildcats finally getting the walk off in the bottom of the 11th inning with the final score being 11-12 in favor of the Wildcats. Tylar finished with 6IP. While the Tigers got production throughout the lineup the 4-8 hitters had the most production. With Wyatt Shireman leaving the game to injury, Brendan Homan stepped into the 4 spot, followed by Clay Goodman, Colten Pummill, Reid Hagedorn and Levi Lentz in those spots. The defense was solid throughout the night and was highlighted by several stellar catches from the outfield combination of Wyatt Crawford, Carter Bershears, and Jack Hoos. While a tough loss to take, it was a great game to watch or be part of. The Tigers are back in action Wednesday at Prairie Home for varsity only action, and Friday at Santa Fe for both Varsity and JV action.
GRL baseball opened the season with a 16-1 win at Crest Ridge on Friday night.
The Tigers were led by Colton Pummills who threw all 5 innings for the complete game. Pummill was 2/2 with a walk and 2 RBI at the plate. Reid Hagedorn went 2/2 with 2 walks, 3 SB, and 1 RBI and scored 3 runs. Clay Goodman went 2/4 with 2 RBI and 2 SB, and Wyatt Crawford had 2 RBI and scored 3 times as well.
In the JV contest the Tigers tied 3-3 behind 2 strong innings from Eli Breshears.

We are incredibly grateful to the Green Ridge Chamber of Commerce for their generous support of our students! Because of their kindness, every K–6 student was able to pick out a book at today’s book fair 📚✨ There is nothing more powerful than putting books into the hands of children, and today was full of smiles, excitement, and a love for reading. 💜💛
