Mr. Taylor's 6th graders are studying ancient cultures and preparing for some big projects. Today, students were learning about Mayan masks and the significance of all the details and colors that were used to create their masks. Students will be creating their own unique masks with the support of Mrs. Dove's STEAM program and Mrs. Link's Art program. Finally, students will complete a research paper where they will gather information and cite sources. Ask your 6th grader about mask ideas!

Ms. Schmidli has been using the book, A Long Walk to Water, by Linda Sue Park for an interactive read aloud and as a focus for lessons practicing a variety of ELA skills. This book is extremely engaging as each chapter is written from the perspective of two 11 year-olds from Sudan set in different time periods. Students hear from a boy named Salva in 1985 and a girl named Nya in 2008. Ms. Schmidli sparked increased interest by letting her students know that these two lives connect in some way by the end of the book. Make sure to ask your 5th grader about this story!

Third grade was getting some practice with nouns, verbs, and adjectives today without using a worksheet! Students completed a sorting activity in Seesaw on their chromebooks. An added feature to this interactive program is that students are able to record themselves explaining their answers! Super engaging!!!

Coach Cannon has had his students learning softball/baseball basics in preparation for wiffle ball season! Students have spent several days throwing and catching. Next, they practiced fielding grounders and fly balls. Today, students were learning some batting skills and getting practice making contact with the ball. His goal is that by the time the students play the actual game, they will already feel a level of confidence and success! GR8 job, Coach!
